It’s been awhile since Zelda sales have been discussed, so here is an up-to-date look at the franchise’s sales data. Ocarina of Time is still the best-selling Zelda title of the franchise, but what about the rest of the titles. Where does your favorite fit in?

Fan-Made Twilight Princess “Demake”

Over at Way of the Pixel, a new contest on their forum asks for fans to submit their best “demakes” – a sort of theoretical “what if it were released on this earlier system” – aka a Mockup Frenzy. A user by the name of Schu created a 2D, sidescrolling mock-up of Twilight Princess, originally released for the Wii and GameCube. You can check out Schu’s work below.

News Editor Position Available

This will most likely be my final news post here, at least for a long, long while. I am stepping down from the pedestal of News Editor, and passing on the torch after a good run. Being the last survivor of the original news monkeys hired, I’d like to take a small recap on my…

The Legend of Neil

For those of you who haven’t yet heard, Atom has spawned a new (adult-rated) short film series known as the Legend of Neil; a Zelda satire. It features a character named Neil who was somehow got himself into the Legend of Zelda world, and is living out the adventures of Link. However, these adventures are…

Crazy Tracy Appears in Captain Rainbow?

On August 28th, 2008, Captain Rainbow will be released in Japan for the Wii, but that hasn’t stopped the gaming community from getting into a mild uproar over the Nintendo Channel previews of the game airing each week, especially after Birdo appeared in an episode shouting “bastard” and displaying a personality that challenges gender definitions.…

While the Japanese manga of A Link to the Past has been around for a while, a two-part Manga of Ocarina of Time has surfaced from the VIZKIDS website. While it is up to the gamer to decide whether or not the events are canon, it appears to be of high quality. The reading level…

Nintendo Wii’s Classic Controller to be Banned

If you weren’t aware, Nintendo’s been in a bit of hot water lately. Facing a $21 million lawsuit, it has been accused by Anascape (some company in, where else, Texas) of pirating their software and, as such, took Nintendo to court to make a quick buck. Don’t you hate it when people just sue at…

Nintendo’s Pie: Casual Gamers Getting a Bigger Slice?

Recently it has occurred to me that I haven’t been playing my Nintendo Wii as frequently as my nagging brain keeps telling me to. While there are reasons for this (food, sleep, plotting to overthrow the site) I just cannot bring myself to pick up my controller and beat up computers in Brawl anymore. There’s…

Miyamoto: A Traditional Man

Ladies, gentlemen, and muffins, today I saw a very interesting statement made by none other than Shigeru Miyamoto, whom you might all know and recognize as the Golden Boy of Nintendo as well as the creator of our beloved Zelda series. In the interview, Mr. Miyamoto wished to inform the public of his preferential expertise…

Retrospective Review: The Adventure of Link

Power Shot, a frequent article writer for Zelda Universe, brings us his take on the original Legend of Zelda for NES in a series of “retrospective articles,” made just for ZU’s revamp, where he takes the Zelda series in a modern context, then proceeds to rip it to shreds. What did AoL mean to Zelda…

Iwata and the Wii

While the news of Zelda becoming casual from the mouth of Shigeru Miyamoto caused uproar, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata had some uplifting news concerning the Wii, E3 and a little about upcoming Zelda and Mario titles.

Miyamoto: Casual Zelda?

On behalf of all of us at Zelda Universe, I apologize for the drop in news. Most likely cause is the shock of what little information E3 yielded to us. However, things have seemed to take a turn for the worse.

Wii’s Revolution; The Conduit

While Nintendo’s E3 Press Conference failed to supply verification to the core-crowd of gamers, a new game is quietly rising up, and is planning on taking the Wii by storm. A group of developers from the third-party company High Voltage, the ones responsible for such Wii games as Codename: Kids Next Door: V.I.D.E.O.G.A.M.E., The Grim…
