Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of the Super Smash Bros. series, has announced an upcoming Smash Ultimate-focused Nintendo Direct, designed to announce and showcase the fifth DLC character in the coveted Fighters’ Pass. Fans flocked to Twitter this morning to share their reactions and predictions.
The livestream will be about 35 minutes long, which surprisingly isn’t the longest Smash DLC Direct we’ve had; King of Fighters character Terry received a whopping 40-minute showcase, though that was largely because of the complexity of the character’s moves and game history, and Sakurai’s personal investment in the King of Fighters series.
Already, fans across the gaming scene are pooling their guesses together about “Fighter Five:” Is it Dante from Devil May Cry? Is it Sora from Kingdom Hearts? Is it Geno from Super Mario RPG? Is it Tingle from Freshly Picked Tingle’s Rosy Rupeeland? Only time (and Mr. Sakurai) will tell.
