The unofficial start of summer has greeted us, and for many gamers it means one thing. It’s video game announcement season. Summer Games Fest 2026 kicks off next week with a packed schedule of game reveals, and everyone seems to be participating except Nintendo.
This comes as no surprise of course, as the Big N has historically shown a preference for marching to the beat of its own drum. The rare exception was last year, in which Nintendo did have a somewhat modest showing that featured the capabilities of their new Switch 2 console. Fast forward to this year, gamers across the world eagerly anticipate a Nintendo Direct to soon take place on the horizon. Will we see more about the Zelda movie which we know is ahead of schedule? Will it be a remake of Ocarina of Time, or perhaps something new altogether?
For now, it looks like we will have to wait just a little bit longer. While we wait, gamers can check out the current schedule lineup for Summer Games Fest 2026 here.
