There’s nothing quite like taking a walk in the park to stop and smell the flowers and… collect Zelda themed items? Hey! Who put Zelda in my Pikmin? Well, you can likely guess who. And there’s still enough time to catch Pikmin Bloom’s current special event that focuses on classic retro Nintendo nostalgia. Some of it includes unique NES Zelda in-game items. There’s not much time left, though. The event is happening right now and ends May 31 at 23:59 PM in your own local time zone.
Pikmin Bloom is an augmented reality mobile app game co-developed by Nintendo and Niantic. Like the hit mobile game Pokemon Go!, Pikmin Bloom encourages players to walk around and get outside to make progress and collect in-game items.
According to the Pikmin Bloom website, players can meet Game Console Pikmin when they participate in Event Challenges as described:
“This May, Pikmin Bloom is adding a touch of retro charm to your walks.
As you take on Event Challenge missions, you’ll have the chance to meet Pikmin with Game Paks—Nintendo’s classic game cartridges—bringing a familiar touch of nostalgia to your journey!
Whether you’re heading out for a short stroll or taking your time over the weekend, each step brings you a little nearer to meeting them. Take a closer look—some Game Paks might bring back memories of long afternoons spent playing your favorite games.”
The game is also offering players a chance to snag not just one but two Zelda themed T-shirts for their mii characters. The first Zelda shirt can be acquired by blooming 2,000 flowers with your Pikmin, but the golden NES cartridge shirt gets unlocked with a whopping 12,000 flowers! Time to get busy.
