Smash Bros. Direct: New fighter, new Zelda Mii costume

Fire Emblem's Byleth is the 5th Smash Bros. DLC character.

In a new video announcement today, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate creator and director Masahiro Sakurai unveiled Byleth from Fire Emblem: Three Houses as the fifth and final DLC pack 1 character. Also newly revealed was the Breath of the Wild Ancient Armor Mii Swordfighter costume, which will be a free exclusive add-on to those who purchase the upcoming second DLC pack.

Breath of the Wild Ancient Armor is an exclusive new Mii costume.

Fighters Pass Volume 2 is currently in development, and according to today’s Smash Direct will be up for pre-purchase on January 28. Like the Rex Mii outfit from Fighters Pass Volume 1, the Ancient Armor will not be sold separately, so if you are itching to fight with ancient Sheikah technology, preordering will be your only chance to obtain it.

Volume 2 of the Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC promises not five, but six more yet-to-be-revealed new fighters for the game, all of which are currently internally confirmed and planned for release by December 2021. Byleth adds yet another weapon wielder to Smash Bros. (which Sakurai playfully acknowledged in the video), so it will be interesting to see what the development team has decided on for the next six fighters.

Will you be purchasing Fighters Pass Volume 2?
