Before Sony vs. Microsoft, we had Nintendo vs. Sega. Written and directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, “The Social Network’s” Scott Rudin is set to produce a motion picture adaptation of “Console Wars,” a soon-to-be-released book by Blake J. Harris.

The console wars began in the early 1990s, when Sega made its way into the Nintendo-dominated video game industry. “Console Wars” details the relentless battle between rising star Sega and champion Nintendo.

Amazon summarizes the upcoming book by Blake J. Harris:

“Based on over two hundred interviews with former Sega and Nintendo employees, Console Wars is the underdog tale of how Kalinske miraculously turned an industry punchline into a market leader. It’s the story of how a humble family man, with an extraordinary imagination and a gift for turning problems into competitive advantages, inspired a team of underdogs to slay a giant and, as a result, birth a $60 billion dollar industry.”

“Console Wars” is available for pre-order on Amazon for $19.88 and is scheduled to release on May 13 of this year. Still in the early stages of production, no date has been set for the feature film.
