Back in July 2025, Nintendo revealed that British actor Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will portray Link, and British actress Bo Bragason will take on the role of Princess Zelda in Wes Ball’s directed The Legend of Zelda film. This announcement capped years of speculation around who would bring these iconic characters to life.
It is worth noting now though, that while only the two leads have been publicly confirmed, it has been indicated that the overall casting process is now closed, and the film has moved from pre-production into filming. The project is officially underway in Wellington, New Zealand, which, if Lord of the Rings is any good comparison, New Zealand will make a great Hyrule.
According to listings, the shooting schedule began on November 4, 2025 and is expected to continue through to April 7, 2026. With cameras rolling, we very well could expect a possible teaser trailer or, at least, further cast reveals ahead of Zelda’s 40th anniversary coming up in February.
