Chuggaconroy raises over $3k for gun violence victims in honor of Christina Grimmie

On June 4, 2026, YouTuber Chuggaconroy put together a touching tribute for the late Christina Grimmie, an accomplished singer and Zelda fan whose life was tragically cut short by gun violence on June 10, 2016. She would have been 32 today. The tribute comes with an option for viewers to donate to the Christina Grimmie Foundation (CGF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that was established by her family after her passing to help victims of gun violence. Chuggaconroy has raised over $3,032 USD at the time of this writing.

“This week makes 10 years since we lost Christina Grimmie,” says Chuggaconroy on X. “I never got the chance to personally meet her, but wanted to tell the story of her achievements and my own experience as a fan.” Rather than focus on what ended her life, Chuggaconroy decided to focus on the beauty of Christina’s life and her remarkable accomplishments at such a young age, as well as her vocal passion for the Zelda series and Nintendo games. She began posting covers of songs she sang on her YouTube channel zeldaxlove64 and quickly gained notoriety. Her career path as a singer became wildly successful and she finished third place on The Voice in 2014. “I wish I had known that she was here,” Chuggaconroy says in the tribute. “I think of her when I wander this version of [Breath of the Wild] Hyrule and how much she would have gone nuts over it. I’m sure I’m not the only one.”

Fans were touched by the tribute and shared heartfelt condolences and even some memories they had with Christina. “I remember playing Mario Kart 8 with her when she had a Twitch stream,” says one fan in the comments, “Was so sad she had passed at such a young age. She was an Earthbound fan too.” “I feel the same way!” says another, “I didn’t know about her until now. As a fellow Zelda fan, seeing her be so openly passionate about it give me joy as much as it makes me sad she isn’t here to continue her passion. May she stay remembered even years from now…”

On June 10, Christina’s family published a documentary honoring her life and legacy on her YouTube channel. Thankfully, the channel itself lives on and is currently managed by the family. You can see it here. The documentary release coincided with a three-day Grimmie Fest event hosted in Orlando, FL with a benefit concert for the foundation. CGF has raised close to $600,000 to help families of gun violence victims thus far. Those who wish to donate can do so on the Christina Grimmie Foundation’s website or through the Google Donate button on Chuggaconroy’s tribute video in YouTube, link below.
