Nintendo Switch 2 ranked bestselling console in the U.S.

The Nintendo Switch 2 console passed 2 million units sold in the United States this July, signaling early success for Nintendo in the newest generation.

After record breaking launch sales, the Nintendo Switch 2 continued to generate demand in the console’s first full month on the market. According to the latest Circana gaming sales report, the Nintendo Switch 2 passed 2 million units sold to date in the U.S, making it the #1 ranked selling console in July.

The data shows the largest July for gaming hardware revenue since 2008, bringing the industry total to $384 million overall for July 2025. Since Nintendo’s competitors are down on the year in terms of hardware sales (PS5 -52% and Xbox Series -69% respectively), the Nintendo Switch 2 is likely responsible for this increase.

Perhaps most notable from this news is that the Nintendo Switch 2 is currently 75% ahead of the pace set by the first Nintendo Switch console for sales. Powered by the strong releases of Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, Nintendo appears to be in a prime position for continued success in the gaming market for the foreseeable future.
