The Empire Smashes Back, the second installment in James Farr’s animated saga that places Smash Bros. characters in the vastness of the Star Wars universe, has finally been released three months after it’s predecessor, A Link to the Hope. The series follows the journey of Link Skywalker in his quest to learn the ways of the force, culminating with his epic battle against Darth Ganondorf. The series is written, directed, and animated by James Farr. This chapter introduces classic Smash characters in some fan-favorite Star Wars roles, such as Samus as Boba Fett, Sonic the Hedgehog in the place of Lando Calrissian, and the beloved Pikachu filling in for Yoda. If you are a Star Wars fan, a Nintendo fan, or better yet both, this is a fanboy’s dream come true. It includes a fresh take on both the Star Wars and Smash Bros. franchises with a brilliant musical score, superb animation, and incredible production values.
