Super Zeldathon begins July 19 with nostalgic ‘90s theme

If it seems like Celine Dione, N*SYNC, Cher and TLC are suddenly gracing your ears again like old childhood friends over the air waves while trying to figure out tonight’s dinner at the grocery store, you’re not imagining things. The 1990s are as back as the Backstreet Boys in 2026, and they’re resurfacing in everything from fashion design to an Ocarina of Time remake to even the music in retail stores. Our friends at Zeldathon are joining in on the fun. Their theme for Super Zeldathon this year is none other than the nostalgic ‘90s. It’s all that and a bag of chips.

The popular charity speedrunning event starts July 19 and continues through the 25th. Kicking off with the classic ‘90s game A Link to the Past, this event has plenty of games, skits, and surprises in store to help benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Donations are currently live early on Zeldathon’s website.

During the event, you’ll get to see a nice handful of obscure and even rare titles played, which include the Zelda CD-i games, a fun multiplayer romp through Four Swords Adventures, and the super rare BS Zelda, an interactive voice acted Hyrulean adventure that players in Japanese homes once enjoyed, but only while it was live-streamed across the consoles nationally at the time. We’re not sure how Zeldathon was even able to get their silver gauntlets on this gem and even have it available for us to see it play now, but we’re definitely curious. You can tune in to donate and watch Super Zeldathon streamed through their website. Save the date!
