Music Monday: Link’s Awakening

Hey, Universe! I am Rusty, and once again, I am bringing you a new Music Monday! Today we shine the Music Monday spotlight on a game I have only played twice, and have never bothered to complete: Link’s Awakening! I have no compelling reason for my lack of interest in this classic Zelda game, but, I…

Ballad of the Wind Fish, Indie Rock style

As a fan of Indie Rock and as a musician, I figured this was something awesome that needs to be shared here on the site. YouTube user Tonido has added his own version of “The Ballad of the Windfish.” This version starts out with one sweet guitar riff (which is just the basic “Ballad of the Windfish”)…

More translated details coming out of Hyrule Historia

More and more details keep coming out of the special Hyrule Historia book as fans of the Zelda series translate it into English. The Nintendo-dedicated website GoNintendo has released some new details that may surprise you and may get you thinking a bit differently towards the Zelda story.

Highlights of 2011

2011 was a wonderful year to be a Zelda fan. With the series celebrating its 25th anniversary along with two major game releases, Nintendo pulled out all the stops to ensure that its fans would be left feeling overloaded with goodies. Here are my favorite highlights from 2011.

Fanart Friday: Zelda art by Pertheseus

A member on deviantArt by the name of Pertheseus has been creating some fantastic Zelda artwork throughout his six years on deviantArt. 25 Years in 25 Days – 2011

A lot has happened this year. Nintendo has celebrated anniversaries in the past, but I think it’s safe to say that what they’ve done for the Legend of Zelda outshines anything else they’ve ever done. Better yet, this year won’t be the end of the festivities. The Legend of Zelda concert series will be going…

25 Years in 25 Days – 2010

The 2000s were clearly an exciting decade for the Zelda series.  More than half of the Zelda games in existence were released in that decade—a total of 10 out of the current 16 (if you’re just counting the canonical ones).  Unfortunately though, jumping into the next decade would not be so dramatic. 2010 was a rebuilding…

25 Years in 25 Days – 1998

Co-authored by Hombre de Mundo and The Missing Link Ah, 1998.  I was ten years old back then, and Nintendo released the Game Boy Color.  There was already so much love for the Game Boy back in those days, but the GB could only take the imagination so far.  Limited to just four colors in…

25 Years in 25 Days – 1993

If there’s a single year that should have been the best year for The Legend of Zelda out of all 25 of them so far, it should have been 1993.  After having received the joy of A Link to the Past and after several years of Zelda cartoons and comics, the last thing that anyone…

The Soul of a Zelda Game

The Soul of a Zelda Game Article By Hylian Dan Will video games as a medium be forever relegated to the pop cultural ghetto? Or will they establish themselves alongside such revered media as film, literature, and music? Designer Chris Hecker tackled this question in a keynote address covered by Gamasutra. As I reviewed his…
