It’s 2023 and another ZUthon has come to an end. This year, ZUthon: Zelda for Eternity was raising money for AbleGamers. AbleGamers is an amazing organization whose mission is “Creating opportunities that enable play in order to combat social isolation, foster inclusive communities, and improve the quality of life for people with disabilities.” Founded in 2004 by some amazing individuals, they have been doing great work in the community to help make it so that people with disabilities can experience the joy of gaming.
This year’s ZUthon showcased talented gamers and streamers playing various Zelda games such as Twilight Princess, Majora’s Mask, Minish Cap, Oracle of Ages, Oracles of Seasons, Ocarina of Time and Tears of the Kingdom to name a few. Whether it was playing a randomizer, doing a BINGO challenge or the exciting Cross-Hub race, everyone was having a good time with The Legend of Zelda. From Wednesday, August 2nd until Sunday, August 6th, these gamers played their hearts out for a good cause, with thousands of viewers taking time out of their day to join in on the fun and help spread awareness. This year’s goal was $10,750.69 and thanks to everyone’s awesome effort, we were able to raise an amazing $12,751 for AbleGamers, surpassing the goal by about $2,000 and beating last year’s record! This being Zelda Universe’s 8th ZUthon, we have raised more than $25,000 for numerous charities. We want to thank the amazing folks at AbleGamers and all of those who came to support in any way possible whether it was through donations, gaming, or just spreading awareness. Any time people can rally together to do good for others is a special thing and it’s even more special that it can be done through our love for gaming and above all, The Legend of Zelda.
