The notorious Philips CD-i title Zelda’s Adventure is having a graphical overhaul and quality-of-life features implemented, thanks to a dedicated fan.
Currently available in demo form, the completed version of Zelda’s Adventure Remastered — by itch.io user JappaWakka — is set to feature a “Classic Mode” for those who want the original experience, as well as a “Remastered Mode” with visual enhancements and restored cut content.
The latter mode will also feature 60 fps gameplay, subtitles, customizable controls, improved music and sound effects, and localization options.
JappaWakka said they developed the project “basically from scratch with GameMaker […] using assets and data that have been extracted from the game”.
The current demo allows players to go as far as beating the first dungeon, the Shrine of Earth.
