With less than two weeks to go until the release of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, Nintendo shadow dropped a snazzy third trailer of the game online. Plenty of fun details were teased across the board, including more combat mechanics involving hands, the return of Tears of the Kingdom bosses, and just enough story to keep everyone on their toes.
The trailer begins with a flock of birds flying over Hyrule Field and Rauru in the ancient era followed by a shot of four Secret Stones in the Forgotten Temple. Rauru says, “A power that great tests the very depths of its bearer’s soul… Just like the Secret Stones.” Could he be referring to the Triforce?
Next, the shot transitions into focusing on a rather ominous cluster of dark energy forming in Ganondorf’s hand as the Demon King followed by a closeup of the Secret Stone on his head, a classic callback to a Tears of the Kingdom memory. This is followed by brief shots of the mysterious Construct, Sonia with a Sundelion, and Rauru, with the sky turning red and a transition back to Ganondorf again. Curiously, not much of Ganondorf in his original Gerudo form is actually seen in this trailer.
After that, we get the first confirmation that the boss monsters from Tears of the Kingdom have returned, but this time they have snazzy new looks and attacks. Queen Gibdo wears a royal dress, and Colgera seems to be a land-dwelling ginger. Could this be what their original forms first looked like? It’s not clear how Mucktorok or Ghoma will appear at this time. However, it seems that at least some of the bosses might very well have a correlation to the Blights from Breath of the Wild.
The trailer moves on to showcase more combat play as well as a confirmation that the Constructs are attacking Rauru even in the ancient era. A romantic shot of Zelda almost touching the Construct-that-might-be-Link-but-isn’t-confirmed is teased for a brief moment before returning to more dazzling combat followed by camera pans of our dashing Korok friend, as well a confirmation that the mysterious Construct will be playable. There is much focus to various playable characters joining hands in combined attacks, an important theme being carried over from Tears of the Kingdom. The trailer ends with Zelda and Rauru looking out over ancient Hyrule from apparently the same spot as Link in Breath of the Wild, closing with a scene of Hyruleans cheering on Rauru, Zelda and the Sages as they stand in a classic group pose in the same style as Age of Calamity. Continuity seems to be an important thing in Age of Imprisonment, which is a welcome and hopeful sign for many fans.
Transitions between gameplay and cutscenes are nice and smooth thanks to the much anticipated 60fps power that the Switch 2 hardware makes possible. You can see the entire trailer below. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment releases worldwide on November 6, 2025 but there’s still time to preorder a copy with our helpful guide.
