Retailer GameStop posted a social media update today for its customers that the preorder start date for Nintendo Switch 2 has moved from April 9 to a later date to assess current market conditions. The worldwide system launch date of June 5, 2025 remains the same from Nintendo. GameStop stated that they received an update from Nintendo regarding the following:
Walmart and Best Buy have not made similar statements yet at the time of this writing, but Switch 2 preorders for both retailers are also currently paused, as is the same for retailers in the United States at this time. Switch 2 preorders for some retailers in the UK have already gone live despite the preorder date not starting until April 8 (or what would have been April 9 for the U.S.). Switch 2 preorders on the Nintendo Europe website are still slated for April 8. Preorders in Canada are still slated for April 9. No updates from retailers in Japan have been spotted yet.
