Although new games have not been released for months, the Nintendo 3DS received its first update since November 2020. OatmealDome, a dataminer, looked into the update and, well, it’s an update.
Nintendo’s patch notes say that it is an update to improve system stability and usability. OatmealDome goes in further saying that it is mostly to fix an Internet Browser exploit and recovery mode’s SSL. Although it isn’t a big update, it is important to make sure your 3DS stays up to date.
This may be one of the last few updates to the system as Nintendo discontinued production of all units in September 2020 and stated it will no longer repair broken 3DS handhelds as of March 2021.
