On April 29, Nintendo released Nintendo Switch OS update 10.0.0.2. It was only earlier that month that Nintendo released the 10.0.0.0 version which included new features, most notably the ability to remap buttons system-wide. A quick follow-up update of 10.0.0.1 was released with the trademark “General system stability improvements” for which Nintendo has become known for.
Update 10.0.0.2, however, falls somewhere between these two updates in terms of known changes included. Nintendo rarely goes into details of what is included in a patch unless there are major interface changes and these typically come with big, number-changing updates like the most recent update version 10. While they included the usual blanket stability fixes statement, Nintendo thought one particular fix was important enough to point out in the releases notes.
It seems that in the previous two versions, there had been an issue involving Pro Controllers. Apparently, in these versions of the OS, Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers sometimes were not “set up” which could result in “incorrect joystick control.” It is not known how widespread this issue seemed to be but we received no reports of hardware troubles prior to this update and there seem to be no widespread reports or complaints online regarding the issue either.
It seems strange for Nintendo to bring attention to a bug that seems to have not been making waves the past couple of weeks. However, if you happen to be a user affected by this apparently limited bug, you are in luck as a simple update should solve your issues. While it does not specifically mention updates for the controllers themselves, it is always a good idea to check to make sure your controllers are all up-to-date after a system update as well.
