EXCLUSIVE: Surprise cast is revealed for the Zelda movie

As if the past five days haven’t already been an intense swirl of intrigue, Nintendo made yet another surprise announcement this morning to spice things up. The main cast that will be featured in the upcoming Legend of Zelda movie is finally revealed, and even on a bet of 1,000 rupees it’s not what anyone would ever guess.

This announcement was made earlier on the Nintendo Today! mobile app, but the app quickly crashed from sheer traffic overload and the data was lost, resulting in problematic glitches across the Nintendo Network. Nintendo apologized on social media for the unexpected issues and was able to restore services, but the casting data seems to be permanently lost for reasons unknown. Nonetheless, we are aware that filming is in progress. Here is the cast information we found based on what little information we could glean from the app prior to the crash.

Teaser artwork of Homer Simpson as Adult Link was found on the Nintendo Today! app before it crashed.

Springfield resident Homer Simpson is cast as the iconic Adult Link, the Hero of Time. His plucky son Bart Simpson is set to play as Child Link along with him. Navi will participate in the movie as herself. Together, they will embark on an epic quest to stop the infamous Ganon from obtaining the Triforce, played by Charles Montgomery Plantagenet Schicklgruber “Monty” Burns, or Mr. Burns for the sake of brevity. Along the way, they will encounter the beautiful Princess Zelda who is played by Lisa Simpson as a child and Marge Simpson as an adult. Groundskeeper Willie will star as Dante. Talon the owner of Lon Lon Ranch is played by Clancey Wiggum. Talon’s melodious daughter Malon is played by Doris Freedman, known endearingly by local mutuals as “Lunchlady” Doris. Ralph Wiggum is cast as the village boy Zill. Dr. Robert Underdunk Terwilliger Jr. will play as Ingo. Maggie Simpson is the shopkeeper Malo. It’s not clear whether other Zelda characters will appear in the movie or not, but we will keep you posted as more information becomes available.

While most fans were shocked and outright flabbergasted at the cast findings, others were relieved that Nintendo did not cast major celebrities in the Zelda movie. Well, the Simpson family seems to have some sort of notoriety at least, with a good chunk of television experience and a modest film under their belt. But for the most part, it’s nice to see fresh faces handling our beloved series for a change. What could go wrong?
