The moment has at last arrived. We now have first official looks of Link and Zelda in the live action Legend of Zelda movie, Nintendo and Sony’s joint venture. Benjamin Evan plays as Link and Bo Bragason plays as Zelda.
These images came straight from the Nintendo Today! smartphone app, which plays as a slideshow video today accompanying Zelda’s Lullaby from the ending of Breath of the Wild. Fans will be happy to know that Link is once again returning in his traditional green tunic attire for the movie. His side-sweeping blonde locks and brave demeanor remind one of his daring adventures in Twilight Princess or Ocarina of Time. Curiously, he does not wear his iconic hat for this particular scene. Could this be a nod to Breath of the Wild?

Meanwhile the fair Princess is wearing a simple blue dress that seems to be inspired by Breath of the Wild and Link to the Past. Zelda carries a bow and a quiver of arrows as she looks out into a vast field and seems to be ready for adventure come what may. Will the pair be traveling a lot together in the movie?

Shigeru Miyamoto, who recently turned 73 this year, released an official statement today through Nintendo’s main social media channels regarding the movie shots. “This is Miyamoto. Filming is underway for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda in a lush, natural setting, with Bo Bragason-san who will play Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san who will play Link. Filming is on track for the film’s release on May 7, 2027. It will take a while until the release, so we would be grateful if you would wait patiently and look forward to it.”
The live action Legend of Zelda movie remains scheduled for worldwide release on May 7, 2027.
