Tears of the Kingdom gains traction with more awards under its belt

The newest lineup in the Zelda franchise wins two more awards at the Game Developers Choice Awards 2023 held last week during the Game Developers Conference in New York City. This time around, Tears of the Kingdom wins the Innovation and Best Technology Awards for the game’s remarkable ingenuity in game design. These impressive rewards were won last year by It Takes Two and God of War: Ragnarock, respectively.

It’s good to see the Zelda development team get recognized for this game after the hard work they undoubtedly poured into it during the pandemic years. Game developers in the industry were shocked at how intuitive Tears of the Kingdom’s physics were built, from Link’s famous Ultra Hand ability to seamless sheer drops in height to flexible mechanical bridges being made possible over a pool of lava. If you’ve somehow been living under a rock and not tried this game yet, we definitely recommend diving (or Ascending) into this beautiful masterpiece to see for yourself what the fuss is about.
