On Monday The Game Awards staff announced the nominees for all categories to compete at The Game Awards show, airing live globally on December 7, 2023 7:30 ET / 4:30 PT. It is interesting to note that many of the notable titles featured on the list are sequels or continued series installments, which include Baldur’s Gate 3, Spider Man 2, Alan Wake 2, Resident Evil 4, and Tears of the Kingdom.

Tears of the Kingdom landed a solid standing for The Game Awards in its own right with a total of five whopping nominations in all, which are for Best Score and Music, Best Art Direction, Best Game Direction, Best Action / Adventure, and Game of the Year. Its Nintendo sibling Super Mario Wonder was also chosen for five nominations, which were Best Multiplayer Game, Best Family Game, Best Art Direction, Best Game Direction, and Game of the Year. In fact, Nintendo scooped up the most nomination categories out of all the publishers, with an impressive 15 nominations in all. Though with smaller nominations, Pikmin 4 also made it in the nominations list.

The Game Awards website is now open for the public to vote for their favorite games to be crowned the winner. But before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s not count our Cuccos before they hatch. On Monday the voting site received massive traffic inflow and experienced a brief crash. Bugs and glitches that did not save votes were also experienced by some. If you already cast your vote, you might want to double check the site to make sure they stuck. For those who have not voted yet and want to ensure their ballots are properly recorded, you might want to wait at least several days until the glitches clear. Participants have plenty of time to vote before the show goes live on December 7.
Tickets for The Game Awards in-person live show at Los Angeles, CA sold out the day after on Tuesday. It is not known if more will become available at this time, but participants can still watch the global live stream when it airs 7:30 ET / 4:30 PT on December 7, 2023.
