The latest trailer for Tears of the Kingdom at the Nintendo Direct did not disappoint us by any means. More chopped-up footage was revealed, but this time we have even more amazing surprises to unpack. In one fell swoop, it confirmed Eiji Aounuma’s remarks on the game being darker. New enemies and familiar foes were revealed in a chaotic Hyrule engulfed in all-out war against evil under the light of the Blood Moon.
ReDeads, Hinoxes with new accessories, and a three-headed dragon that appeared to be a Gleeok now join Ganon’s forces, along with passenger-carrying flying creatures that could be some sort of new Helmaroc species. New varieties of Boss Bokoblins also showed up among the ranks of new monsters. Finally, a never-before-seen giant golem-like enemy appeared in the sky islands squaring off with Link.
It seems as if Link is surrounded by foes at every turn in Hyrule’s fight for survival. But that’s not all. One of the trailer’s biggest surprises was not what we saw. It was what we heard. Take a listen below!
Yes, that’s right, Ganondorf now has a speaking voice for the first time in Zelda history! He even has multiple languages, including French, Spanish, and more. Who is the mysterious English voice actor? Speculations are already flying in the fan community, but no official reveal has been made by Nintendo at the time of this writing.
