The recent Tears of the Kingdom footage clearly shows that weapons can, and will, still break as they did in Breath of the Wild. That same familiar warning will show up while you’re wailing on enemies. Before you know it, the familiar (yet oddly satisfying) blue shatter will erupt as the weapon breaks. But all is not lost.
There are new, very Nintendo-like solutions to be had. Like using magic duct tape to put a rock at the end of your stick to make a hammer! The new weapon will eventually break, but it will have a renewed durability. This also means that almost everything can become a weapon. Enemies will also drop some of these fused weapons, it seems, so your options will be more open than ever.

Weapon degradation is a major hindrance for some players, but it was a necessary part of the overall design of Breath of the Wild. While the simple solutions would have been to add a repair function and call it a day, Nintendo decided that wasn’t very fun. They thought up something far more outlandish, and incredible, for everyone to enjoy.
