Breaking Zelda News! Skyward Sword HD announced, and other Nintendo Direct news

Hey, Zelda fans! Another episode of our Zelda News series is now live on YouTube, with Amanda delving into the latest highlights from yesterday’s Nintendo Direct presentation!

A new DLC Expansion Pass for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity was announced during the Nintendo Direct presentation. Much like the Expansion Pass for Breath of the Wild, Age of Calamity‘s pass will come in two waves. Preorders will be available on May 28, 2021.

Lead producer of the Zelda series Eiji Aonuma made an announcement on the Breath of the Wild sequel development during the Nintendo Direct presentation, stating that they “don’t have anything to share right now.” However, he also confirmed that “development is proceeding smoothly” for Breath of the Wild 2, and that the team should be able to bring us some new information later this year.

However, we were not disappointed as Aonuma also announced the remastered HD release of a Wii classic, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, for the Nintendo Switch. With improved visuals, “smoother and more intuitive” controls, and Joy-Con functionality, fans can play easily on both the original Switch and the Switch Lite, as button-only gameplay is also supported.

Fans can also look forward to special edition Zelda-themed Joy-Con controllers. The left Joy-Con features a Hylian Shield design, and the right has a Master Sword design. These Joy-Cons will be launching alongside Skyward Sword HD on July 16, 2021.

The full Nintendo Direct presentation is available in the video below.
