The Legend of Zelda series turns 35 this year and one can’t help but wonder if Nintendo will celebrate the occasion similarly to how the Super Mario anniversary handled its festivities last year. There’s been a ton of speculation on the possibility of the release of the sequel to Breath of the Wild which was announced back in 2019, the chance that The Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD make it to the Switch and there’s even hope that Grezzo will remake Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons utilizing the remade Link’s Awakening’s engine and art assets.
We have yet to see if Nintendo will confirm any of these titles (or if Zelda’s anniversary will be celebrated at all) but thanks to a video shared by YouTube user Brian Tate, we now have a glimpse of what an updated, 4K version of Ocarina of Time 3D could look like running at 60fps. The standard Switch and Switch Lite can’t output image quality at 4K resolution which means that only a beefier, more powerful Switch would be able to run the game in the way shown in the video, but it is certainly exciting to have an idea of what it might look like running natively on the system. Download links can be found in the video description.
Nintendo has already confirmed that an updated version of the Switch is not coming anytime soon but hopefully we won’t have to wait too long to find out if we will be able to play updated versions of classic Zelda games on the current models this year.
