Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity announced for Nintendo Switch

It’s always a treat waking up to a Nintendo Direct or a random game announcement, and fortunately for us, Nintendo has started to surprise us more often in 2020. Last week was a joyous occasion for Mario fans, as we received a 16-minute Super Mario Bros 35th Anniversary Direct. There’s a lot going on this year for Nintendo, and fans of The Legend of Zelda will be excited to know what’s in store for November.

Earlier today, Nintendo released a trailer for a new Hyrule Warriors game called Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. This new entry focuses on the story set 100 years before Breath of the Wild, and will focus on the events during the Calamity.

Age of Calamity will feature all of the Champions as playable characters, as well as Princess Zelda herself. The game is being developed by Koei Tecmo, the same studio behind the original Hyrule Warriors on Wii U and Nintendo Switch.

At the beginning of the announcement video, Eiji Aonuma mentions that we’ll need to wait a little bit longer on updates for the upcoming sequel to Breath of the Wild.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is scheduled for release later this year, on November 20. The game is now available to preorder on the Nintendo eShop and will retail for $59.99/£49.99. It will also have amiibo support.

Nintendo has confirmed that further information for the game will arrive on Saturday, September 26. In the meantime, check out of the trailer for Age of Calamity above.
