Last week, Nintendo Japan added a page on their site that allowed you to buy a Nintendo Switch that didn’t include the dock or charging cable. A configuration that people quickly dubbed the “dockless Switch” was aimed at getting multiple Switch consoles into peoples homes. We speculated that this bundle may not make its way to the west, and for now that appears to be the case.
In an update to the story on the dockless Switch configuration posted by USGamer, Nintendo issued them a statement saying that they “have no plans to release this configuration in the Americas.” This is a shame for those of us who wished to customize what Joy-Con controller colors we wished to have on our potential second console purchase. Keep in mind this isn’t a flat-out “no” to the possibility of this configuration coming to the west in the future.
