Nintendo Japan selling a Switch without a dock and customization options

That’s right, Nintendo is currently selling a Nintendo Switch bundle without a dock. This Japan-only package comes with the Switch unit, two Joy-Con controllers and two straps for said controllers. It does not feature the dock, HDMI cable, Joy-Con grip, or even a charger. That is because this unit is being targeted at households that already own a Switch.

The unique thing about this bundle is that there are some neat customization options available. On the purchase page, you will find that you can choose what color your left and right Joy-Con controllers will be, as well as the controller straps. Want to create a Frankenstein’s monster of a bundle with different controller and strap colors? Then you’re in luck! The only restriction is that you are limited to Joy-Con colors that have already been released.

It hasn’t been announced whether this bundle will make its way over to Western shores or not, so don’t get too excited just yet if you live outside of Japan. Keep in mind that Nintendo still offer some accessory options to Japan only, such as the red Joy-Con controllers which the Japanese can purchase as a standalone item, but are only available in the Super Mario Odyssey bundle in the west.

The bundle costs 26,978 yen, which comes to about $245 USD at the time of this article. That $50 saving seems nice, until you factor in the cost of a dock and charging cable. Granted this is aimed at households that already own a Nintendo Switch, but sharing a single charging cable between two Switch consoles seems like an oversight.

Is the price right for you to consider buying a second Switch in this manner? What color combinations would you go for?
