Nintendo announces Coral Switch Lite

Keeping with their long tradition of periodically releasing new colors for their consoles, Nintendo announced this morning via Twitter that a new color would be added to the Switch Lite lineup — Coral.

This pretty pink Switch Lite will release in Japan on the same day as Animal Crossing: New Horizons — March 20, 2020. Fans in North America will have to wait a bit longer, however, with the Coral color option becoming available on April 3, 2020. So far there has been no confirmation of the Coral color coming to Europe, but it’s likely that we’ll hear more about it soon. When that happens, we’ll be sure to update this story with the release date for European territories.

This new addition to the Switch Lite family brings the total number of color options up to four: Grey, Turquoise, Yellow, and now Coral. Turquoise is currently the best-selling color option, but Coral is already gaining a lot of support on social media and could very well overtake Turquoise as the most popular Switch Lite model in the upcoming months.

The Switch Lite retails for a suggested price of $199.99 in the US and lacks the ability to connect to a television via the Switch Dock. The Joy-Con controllers are also not detachable, and only games that support handheld mode are playable on the Lite, but those are fairly small concessions if you’re looking to play primarily on the go and want an excellent portable experience.
