According to Japanese Nintendo, Nintendo has applied for the trademarking of these cute logos for home consoles in Japan. The Super Famicom D-pad, however, is for merchandise purchases, it seems.
With the recent release of the NES Classic and SNES Classic, I wouldn’t be too surprised if these are to label which console an accessory is compatible with. More excitingly, this could also mean the upcoming launch of the Switch’s Virtual Console!
