A recent report suggests a Nintendo Switch hardware upgrade might be on the way

Bloomberg has recently reported that Nintendo seems to be ramping up Switch console production to 30 million units by the end of the fiscal year. The Kyoto-based company has been struggling to keep up with demand due to the immense success of Animal Crossing: New Horizons and the manufacturing complications that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic generates.

The report also mentions that Nintendo is gearing up for 2021 by asking game developers creating games for the Switch to make their games 4K-ready, suggesting that an upgraded version of Nintendo’s latest console might be happening sooner rather than later, as well as a more robust lineup of games to go with it.

Last year, Nintendo launched the Switch Lite alongside the Link’s Awakening remake. It would make sense that, four years since the release of the original Switch model and Breath of the Wild, Nintendo would want to further the Switch’s sales momentum by launching a more powerful version of the console and the sequel to its premium launch title as well. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see.
