Breath of the Wild appears to be one of the most, if not the most, ambitious Zelda games in the series. Given the number of delays, the team behind Breath of the Wild’s production must have had to overcome many hardships to finally complete the game.

Responding to a question on Nintendo France’s Twitter account, Eiji Aonuma reveals what his biggest challenge was when developing the newest Zelda iteration. 

According to Aonuma, the sheer size and scope of Breath of the Wild was almost too much for them. He initially thought it would be impossible. To combat this, they started with a base for the game and gradually added new elements to it, little by little. Building the game’s engine and adapting to the size of their large development team is reportedly what took up most of their time.

In just eight short days, we’ll be able to explore that vast world ourselves!
