France has given Eiji Aonuma the honor of being named a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters for his contributions to video games throughout his lengthy career.
Being involved with The Legend of Zelda for as far back as Ocarina of Time, Eiji Aonuma has had a massive impact on both the Zelda series and gaming as a whole. His first solo directing role for the series was in The Wind Waker and he currently is serving as the series’ producer. This tenure puts most of the series and its acclaimed games, including the recent Tears of the Kingdom, under his belt.
Given the impact his hard work has had over the years, it is safe to say this award is well deserved. After being knighted, Aonuma joins other games industry and Nintendo peers like the father of Mario and Zelda, Shigeru Miyamoto.
