In 1995, San Jose State University formed the Shrunkenheadman (SHM) club to offer students a forum to share ideas, develop their talent and to provide a valuable resource for members of the community to learn about art. Since then, the club has created a charity committee that aims to bring art back into the community and organises events that help fundraise for charity. This year, the members of the charity committee have organised an art print sale that pays tribute to the endless classic Super Smash Bros.
This isn’t the first time the Shrunkenheadman club has created a Nintendo-themed event. In 2014 we reported on their Press Start event, which raised money for the Morgan Autism Centre. This time, members of the club have created stunning works of art depicting all of your favourite characters from the Super Smash Bros. franchise, and each one is available for just $9 (£6.30) plus s&h. With each purchase, you get a beautiful art print on 8″ x 10″ 60lb (88gsm) semi-gloss paper. Not only that, but all of the proceeds from this sale will go to the charity Child’s Play, a charity that was developed by the games industry to improve the lives of children in hospitals all over the world.
Several of the students were inspired by Zelda games and created some awe-inspiring artwork, shown below. One of my favourites is “The King of Smash” by Maddie Julyk, which depicts Ganondorf in an intense gaze toward the viewer. You can click on each image to be taken directly to the webstore where you can purchase each print.

”Shimmering Wish” by Jessica Tang
“Man Overboard” by Kelly Mitchell
“Battle at the Bridge of Eldin” by Madison Tessera
The SHMash Art Print sale is now on and you can look at all of the incredible artwork here, but hurry as the sale ends on April 25, 2016.
