Monkey see, monkey doomed: Smash 4’s Motion-Sensor Bomb revealed

Just as the Bumper and the Home-Run Bat before it, another returning item in Super Smash Bros. 4 is now receiving a new visual redesign. This time it’s the Motion-Sensor Bomb, the timed explosive that sticks to the surface or fighter it comes into first contact with when thrown. There’s always a sense of tension and panic when players desperately pass it onto each other before it explodes.

If you’re a Smash fan, you’ll immediately notice the biggest change: the size. Series director Masahiro Sakurai says on Miiverse:

“The tiny Motion-Sensor Bomb is hard to see. If you get any closer, it’s dangerous. I warned you.”

It seems like it’ll be more difficult (if not near-impossible) than ever in to spot when placed in Smash 4, undoubtedly allowing more opportunities for stealthy trap tactics.

Yet again, Twitter user SmashBros-Miiverse.provides a helpful comparison image of the new item’s evolution in the franchise.
