Link better hold on tight: Super Smash Bros. 4 pic of the day

Edge-hogging: (verb) Hanging onto a ledge in order to prevent your competitor from recovering from a fall. See also “cheap play”

Example: Zelda thought she could safely land on the platform, but Pikachu was edge-hogging, preventing her from grabbing onto the ledge.

Masahiro Sakurai’s Super Smash Bros. 4 Miiverse “pic of the day” addresses some of the upcoming changes we should expect, including new limitations on edge-hogging.

“Pic of the day. There are many changes being made to attack and defense options for grabbing edges. In this picture, Link is actually trumping  Mario’s grab…Some other changes include: Air time and accumulated damage will determine your period of invincibility while hanging on an edge. Grab controls will no longer be affected by whether you have above or below 100% damage.”

So they’re not eliminating edge-hogging entirely, rather it will be more challenging to pull off. Sounds like a fair trade.
