Get a grip: Link’s and Samus’ tether recovery range increased in Smash 4

In today’s Super Smash Bros. “pic of the day”, series director Masahiro Sakurai reveals more details on tether recovery in the game.

For those who aren’t aware, “tether recovery” is a technique where a specific set of characters are able to latch onto the edge of a platform using their personal extendable item. For example, Link has his Clawshot, and Samus has her Grapple Beam. Multiple fighters can also perform a tether at once, but once a player pulls up, normal ledge grabbing rules apply.

Sakurai says on Miiverse:

“Tether recovery? Yes, you can! And from even longer range than before. Multiple fighters can latch on–who actually grabs hold is determined by the same rules as the standard ledge grab.”
