Gloom Spawn returns in Age of Imprisonment, new monsters appear

We’re finding more tantalizing info from the latest trailer of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment. This trailer focuses more on gameplay than the story. Even though the game is set in the historical events of Tears of the Kingdom, there seems to be plenty of new things to discover and connect the dots with. Some of these new discoveries are never-before-seen monster varieties, as well as greater context of existing ones from Tears of the Kingdom.

Not only does the infamous Gloom Spawn return in Age of Imprisonment, the trailer gives us some hints as to how and when they were formed. Right from the start, we see mysterious screenshots of Ganondorf saying something we don’t hear, perhaps an incantation, and then in the next screenshot his arm is engulfed by gloom in the same intriguing manner as the gloom that he attacked Link with as a mummy in the prologue of Tears of the Kingdom. He then slams his hand into the ground, and the next screenshot follows suit with a group of menacing Gloom Spawn (also informally known as Gloom Hands) emerging somewhere inside a room that could be a dungeon, or even in the Forgotten Foundation.

Some Zelda fans are pointing out that there are blight-like enemies who also appear in the trailer that resemble Tears of the Kingdom bosses, but seem to be entirely new entities altogether. These one-eyed gloomy beasts seem to correspond to certain elements and are probably bosses or mini-bosses for us to fight in the game. Get a closer look at the enemies in the trailer screenshots below, as well as the Gloom Spawn.
