Like that strong cup of coffee before your commute to the big Friday meeting, it’s a fresh blend of joyful memories and bittersweet notes to witness the last Nintendo Direct in history featuring the Switch console. From the Switch’s launch with Breath of the Wild to the latest Zelda game Echoes of Wisdom and everything in between, it’s been a remarkable journey with tons of Zelda games on this single amazing system that makes it possible to play literally anywhere. Here’s a breakdown of all the games that were announced during the Nintendo Direct on March 27, 2025 in case you missed it, need a refresher, or just want to sit down and have a good cry session. Wind Waker and Twilight Princess ports, you will always exist in our hearts and minds.
While no new Zelda content was announced in the Direct as of late, two key Nintendo features were demonstrated that does affect the future of all games on the Switch and future Switch 2 consoles moving forward. One such feature was an all-new Virtual Game Card technology, which will allow the local wireless transfer of digital games across all Switch devices and Switch 2 consoles. This update will roll out later in April.
The other key Nintendo feature is the Nintendo Today! mobile app, which was presented by Shigeru Miyamoto. It delivers Nintendo news directly to your phone along with a nice calendar featuring game anniversaries and other important dates. The app available to download on the Apple App Store and Google Play today. You can read more information about that here.

This particular Direct seemed more like an appetizer to whet the appetite for bigger things to come, as there were several strong Switch titles sprinkled in for the rest of 2025. A meaty trailer for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond showcased fascinating game mechanics smacking of Tears of the Kingdom notes. Samus utilizes these mysterious ethereal abilities in order to solve clues and survive a newly discovered planet teeming with life and ancient ruins. Pokemon Legends: A-Z was another worthy contender in this Direct that featured three-dimensional real time mechanics in wild and trainer Pokemon battles. The game is a remake of the 3DS games Pokemon X and Y set in the Kalos region. Cadence returns in an all-new NecroDancer game as well, this time in a catchy Guitar Hero-style musical format called Rift of the NecroDancer. Unfortunately no Hyrulean adventurers were included this time, but hey, at least it gives us an excuse to tell you to go play the best Zelda-indie crossover Cadence of Hyrule on the Switch. (Okay, maybe it’s the only Zelda-indie crossover, but it’s still incredibly hard to put down.)
Perhaps the real star of this Direct was the surprise return of a long-anticipated 3DS classic series, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. This life simulation game was featured in a trailer with the adorable customizable Miis conducting their goofy shenanigans once again in their day-to-day lives on an inhabited island. The game is still in development and planned to be released sometime in 2026.
