In a special surprise announcement, Nintendo confirmed that it will air a special Nintendo Direct update about a new attraction coming to Super Nintendo World. The Direct will last approximately 10 minutes and will livestream on Monday November 11th at 2pm Pacific Time. Those who are interested in watching the Direct can do so here. No game information will be featured, but instead Nintendo will showcase the new Donkey Kong Country attraction that is coming soon to the Super Nintendo World location of Japan.
We probably won’t see anything Zelda related in this Direct, but that doesn’t mean a Zelda theme park attraction is ruled out. In fact, local residents in the Orlando, FL area have suspected that the Poseidon’s Fury and Sinbad attractions of the Lost Continent area in Universal Studios could be in the beginning construction phases for a Lands of Hyrule-type theme park. (Courtesy tip is provided by YouTuber @MikeOdysseyYT.) These areas are now permanently closed off, leaving the vacant zones ripe for something new to come in their places. This info should be taken as a grain of salt as it’s technically a rumor. However, if a Legend of Zelda attraction were to be built in the somewhat near future, it’s realistically plausible for Universal Studios to be in the process of getting building permits squared away with Orlando officials at this time. It is interesting to note that the initial scratched proposals of Super Nintendo World included areas planned for the Legend of Zelda including Hyrule Castle and the Great Deku Tree. With a timeframe for the Legend of Zelda movie actually closing in, we could very well see the beginnings of a real life Hyrule in the future. Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios in Orlando is set to open next year on March 22, 2025.
