There’s a ton to unpack in the latest trailer for Echoes of Wisdom, among them being strange new realms and mysteries. But other exciting treasures to uncover were also familiar faces, including the return of a longtime favorite boss, Volvagia.
For those of you who need to catch up to speed, Volvagia is the subterranean lava dragon that the Hero of Time must fight in the Fire Temple in order to stop it from snacking on the Gorons in Ocarina of Time. Link had to play a game of “whack-a-mole” of sorts with the Megaton Hammer in order to best the dragon, but he would have to dodge its famous heavy damage-output fire breath in between flybys and surfacing from lava pools. Now that it seems the Princess of Hyrule will go up against Volvagia herself, how will the battle be different this time?
Interestingly, Volvagia takes on the Eastern dragon style much like the dragons do in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. He also starred in the Ocarina of Time manga for a short stint, but for a much different (and tragic) reason.
Another familiar character from Ocarina of Time also appears in the trailer for Echoes of Wisdom, and that character is none other than Dampe. He doesn’t seem to be digging around in graves anymore, however. This time, Dampe has an engineering side that he puts to good use to create a variety of mechanics that mimic monsters for the Princess’s use. They can be used as decoys or they can fight for Zelda for a limited time before they eventually break. Who knew that Dampe could be this clever?
