New gliding character spotted in Japanese promotional art for Echoes of Wisdom

As we get closer to the inevitable day that Echoes of Wisdom graces our Switches with its presence, you can expect the theories, hype and deep dives into the media and info that we’ve been given to be picked apart and explored at every angle. Recently in a new promotional display from the Japanese version of Echoes of Wisdom, there was a slight difference than what we got here in the U.S. It seems that there is a new character we have yet to be introduced to.

A user by the name of Stealth on X has shared the comparisons of the U.S. and Japanese cover art and noticed some stark changes. One big one was a little guy in the upper lefthand corner that seems to be doing some paragliding of sorts. Is this going to be Echoes of Wisdom’s version of the paraglider from Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom? Will this be just a character that we interact with on our journeys? Or is this eluding to a mini game that we will be partaking in which is very much a Zelda staple in all of its games? With about a month left to go, we won’t have to wait long for those answers but the theorizing is all part of the fun.

In the most recent trailer from Nintendo we were shown the different locales and races we will be encountering in Echoes of Wisdom, such as the Jabul Waters which are home to the River and Sea Zora, a situation that is ripe for throwing theories about the placement of this game in the sacred Zelda timeline into disarray. The Japanese website for the game also contains info on new characters shown above such as our favorite nanny Impa returning and her older brother Roubeli, who definitely gives off some serious Robbie vibes. Either way this game is definitely shaping up to be one exciting Zelda game, one that you won’t want to miss. Echoes of Wisdom releases worldwide on September, 26 2024. It’s a very exciting time to be a Zelda fan!
