Nintendo shares official key visual for a new enemy from Tears of the Kingdom

Eiji Aonuma’s gameplay demonstration video showcased a variety of new mechanics and details from the upcoming Breath of the Wild sequel, including a new enemy type called a Soldier Construct. These enemies seem to be connected to the mysterious Zonai race, which are also confirmed to be in the game.

Shortly after the video dropped, Nintendo shared the official key visual for this new enemy, just as they have been doing for other major characters and elements from the game so far on their social media channels.

The design looks to be pretty similar to other enemies we’ve seen in previous trailers. The ones in the footage were wielding basic weapons like tree branches, but this one seems to be holding a fire breathing dragon head as well as a bow. It’ll be interesting to discover how the focus on weapon variety not only applies to what the player will be able to experiment with, but how it affects what kinds of weapons enemies can use as well.

One of the most common complaints about Breath of the Wild was the lack of enemy variety so it’s encouraging to see Nintendo showcasing some of the new foes Link will face when the game launches on May 12.
