Breath of the Wild featured several exciting new bosses to fight in the overworld, including the Stone Talus, Hinox, Lynel, Molduga, and Master Kohga. However, Dr. Wily argues in his new YouTube video that changes will need to be made to keep combat fresh if these same enemies make appearances in the sequel. He also believes that boss fights found in the dungeons need to be more diverse and special, as the Blights were too similar to each other and forgettable.
One of the ways he recommends that the enemies be redone is by infecting them with Malice. In the trailer for Breath of the Wild’s sequel, we see an explosion of Malice, possibly hinting at its spread across Hyrule. Nintendo themselves have stated that the idea for a sequel came from Eiji Aonuma’s desire to revisit the same world of Hyrule and incorporate both a new story and gameplay mechanics. The new gameplay mechanics that Nintendo refers to could definitively include a change in how the bosses are fought, along with new enemies for players to fight.
