Breath of the Wild’s sequel is now called Tears of the Kingdom, releases May 12

Over three years after its original announcement, the sequel to Breath of the Wild has a proper new name, and it is “Tears of the Kingdom.” Nintendo revealed this new name during it’s most recent Nintendo Direct along with a trailer. It releases May 12.

The trailer shows a lot of new content, starting with several shots of a relief or painting showing some unknown series of events. New views of previously seen floating islands in the clouds are shown from both the sky and the ground level. While taking advantage of some new Stasis Rune capability, Link can be seen riding up a rock over the southern jungles, with a clear view of several storm-cloaked islands in the sky. This also looks like a kitschy nod to people who liked to use Stasis to ride items like logs and rocks into the sky, now turned into a proper mechanic. There’s climbing, a new flying mount, and of course the new name and logo, Tears of the Kingdom.
