Tingle’s Maps: Five locations for the romantic at heart

Today is Valentine’s Day, the most romantic date on the calendar and the day where couples have an excuse to celebrate their relationship and show a little extra affection towards each other. Some visit a nice restaurant or a favorite spot, while others prefer to stay exactly where they are, like everyone’s favorite super couple Honey and Darling. There are tons of things to do and places to go regardless of whether you’re in a relationship, and today, I want to take you on a tour of the most romantic spots you can find across the Zelda universe.

Toronbo Shores

Take a walk along Toronbo Shores and relive the moment Link first met sweet Marin. The spot looks as if it was taken straight out of a fairy tale with its coconut palm trees, crystal-clear waters, and pristine sand that shifts with every step you take. This stretch of Koholint Island will always remind me of the cute moments Link had with Marin. Perhaps we could learn from her and take a minute to sit down and dream of the impossible. Maybe we can even share those dreams with someone?

Link’s Private Oasis

If a simple, public beach where anyone can disturb your peace isn’t what you’re looking for, perhaps a private island is more to your tastes. In the world of the Great Sea, Link happens to be the lucky owner of a private oasis, and it truly looks like it belongs in a catalogue for holiday resorts. With palm trees, a waterfall, and sunbeds next to a pool, one could spend all day lazing around in the warm sun. Although Link owns the small island, I’m sure he’d be willing to lend it to you. After all, you’ve been with him through every step of his journey and deserve a rest. And if you happen to get tired of the sun, there’s always the cabana to offer you some shade. Just… don’t try to go inside the fireplace.

The Sky

Speaking of islands, Skyloft may be the biggest island floating in the sky, but it’s far from the only one. Travel all the way up to cloud nine, and you’ll be swept off of your feet by the cool, exhilarating winds. You might see a lovebird or two, or maybe just the magnificent Loftwings soaring around. With so many islands of varying sizes that offer tons of different activities, I think the chances of finding the perfect one for you are excellent. And once you’ve arrived here, why not stop by the Lumpy Pumpkin for some hot soup to warm your belly while you’re visiting your floating island? Oh, and don’t forget to bring a Heart Flower too!

The Twilight Realm

If you prefer something less conventional than the more traditional romantic getaways listed above, perhaps Princess Midna’s world is worth a revisit. With dark, dramatic clouds and a beautiful gold-colored sky that never fades away, it’s almost like a neverending, burning sunset. In the Twilight Realm, ever hour is the golden hour! How lucky Midna is to be in the most flattering light all day long.

Lover’s Pond

The Twilight Realm’s dramatic scenery might become a bit overwhelming after a while, which is understandable considering how different it looks from the world we live in. The latest version of Hyrule bears the closest resemblance to our real world, and it offers tons of spots that make me want to stop for a moment and admire my surroundings. With so many breathtaking locations, it feels like almost any place in this post-apocalyptic Hyrule could work as a romantic getaway. However, I think I and many others would agree that the Lover’s Pond is the ultimate spot for anyone with a romantic heart. This heart-shaped pool atop a majestic Necluda mountain even has its own tale: it’s said that whoever manages to find it is guaranteed to meet their true love. Whether it’s true or not, I can’t think of a more romantic legend tied to a specific location.

These five spots I’ve shared with you today are on my list of sweet, romantic places in the Zelda universe, but if you disagree with me, I at least hope that I’ve helped you see them in a different light. After all, beauty is all around us, and sometimes we just need to put our rose-colored glasses on and enjoy the view. And with that said, I wish you all a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
