In the wake of a year with no E3 event, there’s a new dark horse on the horizon. An announcement trailer for Geoff Keighly’s Summer Game Fest has dropped on YouTube, and it could be the show’s biggest year yet. Spearheaded by Mr. Keighly, the man behind The Game Awards show, Summer Game Fest is a several-day long showcase that promises to bring new game announcements, an interesting mini-event called Day of the Devs, and more. The trailer states that the Summer Game Fest Showcase in its entirety will be streamed live online as well as “in participating IMAX Live theaters across the U.S., Canada, and the United Kingdom.” The streaming time for the show is scheduled for June 9th at 11am PT, 2pm ET, and 6pm GMT.
So far only the Xbox + Bethseda Game Showcase and the Tribeca Games Spotlight are revealed to participate in the show, but the chances that other big-name players will be announced are very high. Keep a close eye out on summergamefest.com for more information. Who knows, we could be watching the next Nintendo Direct here!
