Banjo-Kazooie invades the land of Hyrule in new crossover mod

Banjo-Kazooie is a platforming classic. Developer Rare’s bear-and-bird duo are two of the most iconic characters of the 1990s. They definitely have a cult following, which eventually led them into becoming a DLC Fighter for Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

If you’ve never played Banjo-Kazooie, it is a 3D platformer that many people consider it to be one of the most charming games they have ever played. The world of Banjo and Kazooie is weird, wacky, and simply a ton of fun. Plus, you get to rock out to one of the most iconic video game soundtracks of the 1990s. You have Grant Kirkhope to thank for that one!

Now that I’ve done my mandatory rambling about how great Banjo-Kazooie is, let’s get to the news. We’ve seen a lot of mods featuring Zelda content in the past, but in this one, the bear and bird invade the world of Hyrule.

This brand-new crossover mod is being helmed by Mark Kurko and is titled The Legend of Banjo-Kazooie: The Jiggies of Time. Kurko’s work is an ambitious project, with full-sized worlds based on iconic areas of Ocarina of Time. The mod has been in development for over five years, and its release date is pretty soon. And by “soon,” I mean today, July 22. Kurko’s Twitch subscribers were able to experience it early starting July 15, but its public release is now here.

In this trailer you can see the level of detail that Kurko has put into this project. The Great Deku Tree makes an appearance and even has the traditional Banjo-Kazooie flair added to his dialogue.

This is something worth checking out if you’re a fan of either Banjo-Kazooie or Zelda, and if you enjoy both, you’ll surely have a fun time with it.
