The sages have played a recurring role in the Zelda series, though they are perhaps most prominently featured in Ocarina of Time. In the game, Link would meet the first sage, Rauru, after opening the Door of Time within the walls of the Temple of Time. The sages can also be found in Twilight Princess, in which they banished Ganondorf to the Twilight Realm with the power of the Mirror of Twilight.
